Top Scores at IPA Proofing RoundUP

The fifth annual performance evaluation judged by the IPA, a community of professionals within the premedia, creative, corporate, print publishing, packaging and in-plant environments, drew 22 competing hardcopy proofing solutions and was held in Chicago June 5-7. With its stellar results at the 2007 IPA Color Proofing RoundUP, the newest version of EFI Colorproof XF, winner of the 2007 BERTL's Best Wide Format Pre-press/Proofing Solution, reinforced its renown for outstanding performance, color quality, flexibility and intuitive interface. Colorproof XF is designed for print and prepress professionals, publishers, and creatives. EFI recently launched Colorproof XF for Flexo, which includes unique, powerful new features for the packaging industry. Westmont, Ill.-based Precise Graphics takes advantage of this solution and attended the RoundUP. This year the IPA adopted a "Pass or Fail" grade policy or a number-based judgement in six rigorous tests to define the industry's best, including, Proofing the Testform (or Proofing to Numbers), Remote Proofing, Visual Evaluation of the Testform, Spotcolor and n-channel. EFI soundly "passed" in all categories in which the company participated. In the Proofing to Numbers category, the IPA tested for adherence to current SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) and GRACoL (General Requirements for Applications in Commercial Offset Lithography) industry standards, and Colorproof XF readily passed these tests as well. EFI's compliance with GRACoL, ICC, PDF and other open standards ensures that Colorproof XF easily, seamlessly integrates into customers' overall print shop operations, including offset/digital hybrid environments. Colorproof XF driving the HP Z3100 large format printer with the embedded spectrophotometer passed the pass/fail test in the Proofing to Numbers category and produced optimal results in the Spotcolor visual test. The embedded spectrophotometer allows a fully automated linearization and profiling process as well as the color verification based on a control strip. Colorproof XF turns the HP Z3100 into a powerful printer with the highest degree of automation. An important EFI large format partner, HP recently announced that Colorproof XF has been tested and certified by its new RIP certification initiative for the HP Designjet Z6100 Printer series.
