DENVER - 05-22-2007 - Quark Inc. announced today that a record number of attendees participated in New York City and Montreal Symposiums, the first two cities to host the Quark Symposium 2007 series. A total of nearly 850 Quark customers -- including ad agencies, magazine publishers, government organizations, book publishers, retailers, freelancers and more -- attended the free one-day trainings to network and learn more about the control, speed and freedom enabled by Quark’s latest product innovations. Quark customers spent the entire day in both cities engaged in dynamic demonstrations and hands-on training for QuarkXPress 7, Quark XPert Tools Pro, Quark Print Collection and Quark Interactive Designer. Customers also interacted with Quark experts who were on site to educate, troubleshoot and train. The Quark Symposium in Montreal showcased the availability of QuarkXPress 7 Canadian Edition, a version of the award-winning product tailored to the requirements of the Canadian government and users. Azim Mandjee, business advisor for Frenchification with the Quebec Office of the French Language, delivered a special keynote address outlining the rigorous process by which the software was tested to meet the government’s language requirements. “I am happy to have worked with Quark on the production of the bilingual Canadian edition of QuarkXPress 7.2,” said Mandjee. “The Quebec market finally has access to a product that fits its needs and the Symposium has allowed Francophile users to discover the richness of QuarkXPress 7.2.” Customers in both cities were especially interested to learn about Quark Interactive Designer and QuarkXPress Web Tools, and to experience expert-led, hands-on trainings. “Quark Symposium was really well run and well received,” said Maryanne Turner, director of manufacturing, R.A. Rapaport Publishing, New York. “The two sessions I attended gave good overviews of what to expect from the new version of QuarkXPress and what Quark Interactive Designer is capable of. Quark Interactive Designer is the logical extension to QuarkXPress for web and other re purposing of content for publishers.” “The Quark Symposium in Montreal gave me the chance to see how Quark Interactive Designer would give me a big advantage in meeting my clients’ needs,” said Harry Hekimian, President, Malopan Communications, Quebec. “As a 25-year-old company, Malopan Communications has been using desktop publishing software since the mid-80s. As the industry began to shift to the Web over the past several years, many of our clients began asking for us to publish their brochures online. During the Symposium training sessions, I learned how Quark Interactive Designer will enable me to easily create these web pages for our clients.” In addition, participating Quark sponsors – including Microsoft, Pantone, Extensis, Photos.com, Enfocus, X-Rite and Markzware, MacLife, Design Edge Canada, and Design Tools Monthly – were pleased with the opportunity to connect with professional designers, output providers, and other experts. “The Quark Symposium series has been an extremely effective way for Pantone to meet a large number of our customers face-to-face,” said Doris Brown, vice president of marketing for Pantone, Inc. “The sessions have provided the opportunity to educate our target audience on the latest developments at Pantone, including how to use PANTONE COLOR BRIDGE, an indispensable tool for accurate cross-media color matching, and the COLOR BRIDGE Library in QuarkXPress 7.”
The Quark Symposium 2007 series is currently scheduled to continue in four additional cities across North America, including: For a full Symposium agenda, to register for a Symposium or other additional information, please visit http://www.quark.com/symposium. “We are very pleased with the enthusiastic response we have received so far about Quark’s Symposium series,” said Terry Welty, senior vice president, corporate marketing, Quark. “In addition to providing our customers with unmatched value, the Symposiums present Quark with a great forum for talking directly with large groups of our customers to help us better understand their needs.” To learn more about QuarkXPress 7, Quark XPert Tools Pro, Quark Interactive Designer, and Quark Print Collection, please visit www.quark.com/products.
