The Print Shop. Premier Edition 5.0 continued

I do have one complaint. I would like to have a wider range of ZOOM capability and this is still too limited in Print Shop Premier 5.0. I also noticed that if I am running a 16 bit program at the same time I'm running PSE5 and then I shut down PSE5 and try to re-load... it won't do it. The program will quit responding until I re-boot my computer.   The other problem involved importing my own pictures. The photographs that come with PSE5 are in the .JPG format. I went to a friends house and scanned some photographs and saved them as .JPG.  When I load them into PSE5, though, most of the color disappears so it looks like I have taken a black and white photograph and colorized certain parts to it.

Other than my major complaint over the limited ZOOM capability, I think the Broderbund folks did a first rate job on this rewrite and recommend Print Shop. Premier Edition 5.0.

One more thing, if you already use Print Shop and are planning on moving to version 5, BE AWARE: THIS IS A NEW VERSION OF PRINT SHOP, not simply an upgrade of the old version. That means it will handle things differently than before and it's very likely the new version WILL NOT load your old projects from the older versions. The 2 errors I have gotten are: 1. Cannot load this file. It was quick saved and the original information was destroyed. 2. Cannot load this file. The graphics are not compatible with this version of Print Shop. Also, in an earlier review of Press Writer, I stated that I felt the program was good, but did not stand on it's own well enough to be sold separately. Broderbund now offers the Publishing Suite which includes both Print Shop . Premier Edition 5.0 and Press Writer 1.5 in the same package. I doubt if I had anything to do with that, but I think its a good idea.

I tested Premier Edition 5.0 on an Intel Pentium 60 with 24 meg RAM, 4 X CD ROM, SVGA monitor set for 640X480 256 colors.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:  486-66 or faster with 8 meg of RAM (16 meg recommended) running Windows 95 with either 35MB or 80MB of hard drive space depending on whether you do the minimum or full install. 2X CD ROM, SVGA Monitor with 256 colors, and a mouse. A sound card is required for the tutorials and a modem is required for free graphics on the Broderbund web site and to send online greeting cards.
